First graders are sorting words in groups according to a specific feature. Students are assessed and divided into groups that are spelling at their appropriate level. The stages of spelling development are explained. Children participate in a variety of fun sorting activities to practice their spelling features.

Several of our teachers are now using Word Study. I know your list of "Sort"sational activities will be useful as teachers assess their students' progress throughout the school year. Very nice job on your project!

This webpage has the potential of being used in many ways. Involving the students in giving explanations was quite innovative. Well done!!
